AdmitHub, a Boston-based provider of a messaging platform used by higher-ed institutions to communicate with students, has raised additional funding to bump its Series A round total to $7.5 million.
The first part of AdmitHub’s Series A round technically closed in spring 2018, although it was never disclosed. Leading that first close was University Ventures, joined by Reach Capital, Relay Ventures and Rethink Education. The company has since raised additional funding from Salesforce Ventures and the Google Assistant Investments Program, which supports companies that leverage the tech giant’s voice technology into their products. This program’s previous edtech investments include Edwin and GradeSlam.
Founded in 2014, AdmitHub offers colleges and universities AI chatbot technology that facilitates communications between school officials and students, around questions ranging from application deadlines to class registrations and campus life affairs. Conversations happen via a chatbot interface (though the responses are still designed by human officials at the institution.)
The company claims it has reached more than one million students, and that more than 90 higher-ed institutions currently use its technology. It has a staff of about 50 full-time employees, though that is likely to grow as the company expands its product development and research efforts.
AdmitHub previously raised $2.95 million in seed funding, and has now raised about $10.5 million in investment capital.
